Minister of Internal Affairs and Deputy Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs discussed visa liberalisation process between Armenia and the EU
On October 30, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Sargsyan received a delegation led by Johannes Luchner, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the work being carried out under all four key pillars of the Armenia–EU Visa Liberalisation Action Plan, particularly legislative reforms, the introduction of a biometric system, improvements to integrated border management, as well as issues related to the adoption of strategic documents in the fields of migration and crime prevention.
Both sides positively assessed the progress achieved in implementing the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan and emphasised the importance of consistently continuing the planned reforms.
Vassilis Maragos, Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia and Ambassador, also attended the meeting.
On the same day, Johannes Luchner visited the Margara checkpoint on the Armenia–Türkiye border and familiarised himself with the work carried out there.
